NICOLE SHEMWELL

ADVANCED HAIR CARE ACADEMY

Become a Certified Trichologist.

Step Into the Room as the Expert

Not Just the Stylist.

The science-based certification program that bridges the gap between aesthetics and clinical hair health;

built exclusively for licensed beauty professionals who are ready to go deeper.

"We don't cover up, we discover the root."

THIS COHORT CLOSES IN

"Advanced Haircare Academy is bridging the gap between cosmetology and clinical hair health through rigorous, science-based training."

The Story Behind This Certification

my own hair.

For years, I hid behind my hair. I was struggling with severe acne, and I believed the more hair I had, the less people would notice my face. So I stayed in braids and weaves back to back, no treatments, no trims, no care for what was underneath. And no stylist ever stopped me. No treatment plans, no at-home education, no one connecting the dots. Even when I asked to start over, they'd trim my ends and send me home.

Then one morning I woke up to braids on my pillow, not realizing my hair was attached. It took my braider photographing the bald spots on the back of my head for me to believe what was happening. That photo forced me to face two truths: I had been neglecting myself, and the professionals I trusted didn't have the clinical knowledge to catch it. That gap wasn't my fault. But it became my purpose.

I spent years studying, earned my board certification in trichology, and opened Advanced Hair Care & Wellness Spa, a corrective scalp wellness practice in San Marco and Jacksonville Beach, FL, built on the principle that we don't cover up, we discover the root.

What I found serving clients is what I already knew from my own chair: the industry has a knowledge gap, and clients are paying for it with their hair.

"The salon is the front line of detection, and it's time we trained like it."

Advanced Hair Care Academy exists to close that gap. Not to give you another certificate on the wall, but to give you the clinical foundation that changes how every client, every dermatologist, and every colleague sees you.

OUR MISSION

To elevate the standard of professional hair care by equipping licensed stylists, barbers, and estheticians with the clinical knowledge to identify, assess, and ethically manage scalp disorders. The salon is the front line of detection, and it's time we trained like it.

OUR VISION

A future where the line between cosmetic and clinical is no longer separate, creating a new class of practitioner: the Hair Health Expert, respected by dermatologists and trusted by clients for precision and integrity.

THE HONEST TRUTH

Cosmetology School Taught You to Style Hair.

But Your Clients Keep Coming to You About Losing It.

You were trained to make hair beautiful. And you're good at it. But when clients sit in your chair with thinning edges, unexplained shedding, and scalp conditions that don't respond to anything you've tried, beautiful isn't enough. They need answers. And you deserve to be equipped to give them

That's not a failure of your skill. It's a gap in your training.

Evidence Before Trends.

Science Before Products.

AHCA accepts no sponsorship from product manufacturers. Our curriculum is 100% brand-agnostic, built on active ingredients, chemical efficacy, and clinical outcomes. Not marketing relationships. Not affiliate deals. Education that holds up regardless of what's trending.

01

Biological Foundation First

We start at the cellular level. Product application comes after anatomy, physiology, and the hormonal drivers of the scalp are fully understood. You won't guess, you'll know why.

02

Diagnostic Integrity

Students are trained to recognize the limits of their license, and the ethical imperative of referral when a condition exceeds their scope of practice. Confidence and humility. Both are non-negotiable.

03

Clinical Objectivity

This isNo brand bias. No paid sponsors. Education built entirely on active ingredient science and proven clinical efficacy, knowledge that works for every client, regardless of what they're using.

"Hybrid Learning: Flexible online modules paired with hands-on, intensive in-person practicals."

The Curriculum

A Program Built at the Cellular Level

Our 12-week certification covers the full scope of applied hair and scalp science — from biology and pathology to clinical assessment, business integration, and ethical professional practice. The final week is a two-day intensive: in-person clinicals on Day 1 and Graduation on Day 2.

Real Graduate Stories

Nicole Shemwell

Board-Certified Trichologist

Expert in Scalp Pathology · Founder, Advanced Hair Care Academy

Nicole Shemwell didn't arrive at trichology through the traditional beauty path. She came through IT, eight years in technology and business systems, and through her own hair loss journey. When she discovered she had traction alopecia from years of tight braids, she found herself at the intersection of an industry she trusted and a clinical knowledge gap that had real consequences.

"That discovery didn't break her. It built her."

Nicole went on to earn her board certification in trichology, open Advanced Hair Care & Wellness Spa, with locations in San Marco and Jacksonville Beach, FL, and found Advanced Hair Care Academy, because she understood what it meant to sit in a chair without anyone connecting the dots. She built the school she wished existed.

Her teaching philosophy is rooted in three commitments: biological foundation first, diagnostic integrity always, and brand-agnostic clinical objectivity above everything. Every lesson is built on dermatological and trichological research, not trends, not product sponsorships, not marketing claims. Her systems-thinking background means the curriculum isn't just scientific, it's structured, executable, and built for real-world application.

You Might Be Wondering…

What licence or background do I need to enrol? +
AHCA's program is designed for licensed cosmetologists, barbers, and estheticians. If you're unsure whether you qualify, email us directly before applying. We'd rather have a conversation than have you miss the opportunity.
What does "hybrid learning" actually mean? +
Flexible online video modules you work through on your own schedule — combined with intensive in-person practical sessions. The in-person component is non-negotiable. Hands-on scalp assessment under faculty supervision is where clinical confidence is actually built.
